About Me
Hi, I’m Mindy—and this blog is where I share the story of how I am overhauling and rebuilding this life.
I was born into a middle-class family with all the usual expectations: finish school, build a stable life, and follow the familiar script. But life had other plans. I got married at 18, right around the time my parents divorced. I moved out of state, away from everything I knew, and found myself painfully isolated. And not long after, I came to terms with something I didn’t want to admit: I had married the wrong person.
At 19, after finally leaving that marriage, I experienced the darkest moment of my life—assaulted at gun and knife point by someone trusted, who was later found to be a murderer. That trauma broke me open, and I spiraled into addiction in an attempt to numb what felt unsurvivable. I lived in that life of chaos for a few years, drowning in the wreckage of what I’d been through.
But I didn’t stay there.
I got clean. I fought for my life. I rebuilt.
In that rebuilding, I met a caring, wonderful man who’s been my partner for over two decades now. Together, we’ve created a family rooted in love, joy, and resilience. Through it all, I’ve discovered who I really am—not just someone who survived, but someone who thrives, who creates, who loves deeply, and who chooses to live a life worth living every single day.
We are creating together and we have started a trucking business. We desire to take our children on vacations and spend more quality time as a family. We have goals to move further out to the country, surrounded by the beauty of nature, and build a barndominium on land we obtain for our family, garden, and be present and truly enjoy life.
This blog is a space to create the life you desire. For the messy, beautiful, complicated process of healing and becoming our best selves. For anyone who’s ever felt like their life had gone completely off the rails—I’m here to show you that you can still build something beautiful from the wreckage. It may not always be sunshine and rainbows, but I am learning grit and to trust myself.
Thanks for being here. You’re not alone.
