Hello, I’m Mindy—and this blog is where I share how to overhaul this life and create the life you deserve!

I went from growing up in an intact nuclear family, to graduating high school, becoming an Army wife the next weekend and moving to North Carolina, my parents divorcing, myself also divorcing and moving back to Indiana, to being assaulted by a murderer, becoming a meth addict and using any drug I could get my hands on (without resorting to stealing), to moving to Georgia and getting clean with the help of my Aunt and Uncle, moving back to Indiana and meeting my husband, graduating college, becoming a mother and a now-former Deputy Coroner. I have been with my [second/final] husband for over two decades. I gave birth to our first child, a daughter, (Elise, 17) at the age of twenty-seven and our second child, a son, (Abel, 4) at thirty-nine and we have Matt’s son (Josh, 22) who flew the nest last year. The rest of us live together in a small town in Indiana.

A friend of mine and I were loading a sofa into the back of her truck (only to figure out we did not have a long enough tie down strap) and she exclaimed, “There’s always a way!” She looked elsewhere in her truck and found a purse with a long strap and rigged it so the purse and tie strap were making sure the couch stayed in the truck bed. She explained her mother had always told her this. I do not recall ever being taught this. This was like an epiphany to me. I have adopted this mantra and am instilling it into my children. Perseverance and emotional maturity were skills that have taken me a long time to learn in life, but are finally clicking. Having this mentality has catapulted my life in a much better direction. My husband and I have started a box trucking company, Millwood Express Inc. of Indiana, and we are working on affording land in the country to buy and build our family compound.

This blog is for anyone else that wants to overhaul this life and create the life of their dreams. I will share tips and tricks on what I have learned to make life better and I invite you to share what has helped you. I was to build a community that encourages others to build heaven on Earth for themselves and others.

Thank you for being here. You are not alone.
